Cambridge is a city situated along the northern border of Dorchester County, Maryland. The county is located on the Chesapeake peninsula in the Eastern Shore region. In 2014, Cambridge had a population of approximately 12,569 according to the United State Census Bureau. It is the 20th largest municipality in Maryland.

The founding of Cambridge, Maryland dates back to the late 1600s. Cambridge was settled by English colonist in 1684, making it one of the oldest colonial cities in Maryland. Choptank Indians originally inhabited the area where Cambridge is located until they were pushed out by the colonists. In its early years, Cambridge served as a trading hub. Almost 100 years after it was settled, Cambridge became incorporated. Today, Cambridge is a beautiful city that has developed to become the largest municipality in Dorchester County.
